My name is Eugene Heyets. Welcome to my site! I was born in the small Ukrainian city of Romny. I am 44, married and I have two sons. Since 2002 my family and I have been living in Israel.

My interest in wood carving began in 1980 in the Ukraine. At that time I tried carving in different genres such as decorative panels, cornices, masks, wood plastic sculpture, ornamental decor, etc.

In Israel I became acquainted with the work of the famous and talented wood carver, Kronid Gogolev . His creative work gave birth to a new trend in wood carving - a technique called “deep multi-layer relief”. His technique is considered by many carvers to be a fine example of proficient and creative carving.

In the section of this website titled "Art-gallery" I have exhibited my latest works employing the technique of “deep multi-layer relief”. All the works are original, and are carved in high quality lime-tree wood. The surface of each carving is stained, treated with an anti-infective agent and then finished with a special paste and polished.

The themes used in my carvings deal with Ukrainian scenery and literature, and reflect the past and present of our culture. I constantly try to create original art and find technical solutions to the many challenges of relief carving.
